A petrol tanker fire at Adubinso in the Afigya Kwabre South District of Ghana’s Ashanti Region has left one person burnt to death and another seriously injured.
The injured victim is currently receiving treatment at Tafo Government Hospital in Kumasi, where medical staff say the condition is serious.
The fire also destroyed property in the area, including a house and a printing press, while at least nine small container-based businesses were reportedly gutted.
Eyewitnesses report that a driver’s mate helped rescue a nursing mother and her two children before the flames spread further.
Officials say the tanker was involved in an accident that triggered the blaze, but emergency services have yet to release full details on the cause of the crash or the full extent of the damage.
