Minsk, Belarus — President John Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to modernising Ghana’s agriculture sector following a visit to the Belagro 2026 Agricultural Exhibition in Belarus, where he toured advanced farming, mining, and industrial machinery displays.
Accompanied by Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister, the President described the visit as timely and aligned with his government’s vision to transform agriculture through mechanisation, technology transfer, and strategic partnerships with Belarus.
At the exhibition, President Mahama inspected a range of modern agricultural and heavy-duty equipment, including products from the Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ) lineup, displays by Minskyekspo ZAO, fertilizer application machinery from Bobruiskagromash, and the massive BelAZ-75710 haul truck—one of the world’s largest mining trucks.
In his remarks, President Mahama said the visit—undertaken at the invitation of the Belarusian President—offers Ghana a valuable opportunity to learn from Belarus’ experience in agricultural mechanisation and industrial development.
He added that the knowledge and technologies observed would support efforts to revolutionise Ghana’s agriculture, boost productivity, and strengthen food security.
The President is currently on a four-day state visit, during which he is expected to hold high-level bilateral discussions aimed at expanding cooperation between Ghana and Belarus, particularly in agriculture, trade, and industrial development.
