The race for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Youth Organiser position in Ahafo Ano South East is gathering momentum following the official declaration of Abdul Gafur Karim, widely known as FIGO, whose bid is drawing attention among young party members and grassroots supporters.
Presenting himself as a candidate committed to service, inclusion, and youth development, FIGO says his ambition is to build a stronger, more united youth wing that will play an active role in advancing the party’s vision while empowering young people across the constituency.
His entry into the contest has sparked renewed discussions about the role of young leaders in shaping the future of the NDC and strengthening grassroots mobilisation ahead of future political activities.
Addressing supporters after announcing his candidacy, FIGO emphasized that the youth remain the party’s greatest asset and must be equipped with the opportunities, leadership skills, and confidence needed to drive meaningful change.
“My vision is to bring every young person on board, create opportunities for growth, promote unity, and build a vibrant youth front that will contribute positively to the development of our constituency and the party,” he stated.
FIGO pledged to champion programmes focused on political education, youth mentorship, skills development, volunteerism, and community engagement, describing these as essential pillars for building a dynamic and motivated youth wing.
Supporters say his grassroots approach, accessibility, and passion for youth empowerment have positioned him as a familiar face among many young people within the constituency. Political observers note that the Constituency Youth Organiser plays a critical role in mobilising young members, coordinating grassroots activities, and nurturing the next generation of party leaders.
